Motorola’s unlocked Edge smartphone is now available for preorder ahead of a July 31st release, the company announced today. Additionally, the company announced that for a “limited time,” it’ll be offering the Edge for $499.99, instead of the originally announced $699.99 price tag.

It’s not clear how long Motorola will be offering the $200 discount, although it doesn’t sound like it’s considering a permanent price drop at this point.

The Motorola Edge is a slightly watered-down version of the flagship $999 Edge Plus, with a similar 6.7-inch “edge” display design, but with a Snapdragon 765 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 4,500mAh battery, and no wireless charging. (The Edge Plus, on the other hand, has twice the RAM, a larger 5,000mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 865.) It also features 256GB of internal storage. The triple-camera array also is downgraded, compared to the Edge Plus, with a 64-megapixel main lens (instead of the highly touted 108-megapixel sensor on the Edge Plus), among other changes.

Lastly, the Edge will only support sub-6GHz 5G internet (not the mmWave support that the Edge Plus has), although it’ll be available unlocked, instead of limited to just Verizon.

The Motorola Edge is available to preorder now from Best Buy, B&H Photo, Amazon, and Motorola.
